Well, sort of our first homebrew. We had purchased a "no boil" kit several years ago thinking the boiling part would be too much work. That is when we purchased most of our equipment which we still use for the brewing.
But, our first fore into the world of boiling grains was, of course, an IPA. We purchased the kit from Great Fermentations in Indianapolis. We enjoyed smelling the cascade hops as we cut open the shiny silver package and dropped them in. They have the same fragrant scent that we love smelling and tasting in beer.
For our first batch, I would say that this was delicious. It has great color and tastes better than some IPAs we have had. But we purposely didn't change the base recipe. We wanted to see what this one tasted like so that we could experiment with adding more hops in the future.
